During the rigging workshop, we will take you through the measurement of a right plan, 2-D plan design, and concepts and principles of the 3-D design process. You will understand the elements involved to make the entire rig and sails combined in their design and function to drive the craft along its course, adjusting to the wind and sea directions.
In the marine canvas workshop, we will teach you why and how to protect boats from the environment we live in. We will teach you about materials used for covers and why we use different fabric for different situations. You will get hands on learning on pattern making, making a cover, and installing a cover. By the end of the week you should be able to use an industrial sewing machine and have the basic knowledge on making covers for your boat.

Martha’s sail training program is unique. On a vessel of Martha’s size, you are involved in all the workings of the ship. You will rise to the morning listening to the VHF radio weather report to help decide the destination for the day. Our program will show you what it is like to live and work on board a vessel. Meals are served family style around the large main saloon mahogany table.
Sailing trips are geared towards those who want to experience the finesse of making a classic racing yacht perform to her highest ability. We hold each participant to a high standard and find that they proudly rise to that standard. You will be expected to conduct yourself as a professional mariner.
